As a dancer, you live a life a little different from normal. You don’t have to get up so early (although my boss is convinced starting at 9 in the morning is doing good to our company. I’m not..), but often you hardly leave the theater before every light is out and all normal people are sleeping. But those are the easy days. You leave work, you go home, you sleep, you wake up, you go to work… Repeat as needed.

The hard days are those when there’s not so much to do. No big premiere coming up, no performances at night and no variations to study. The boring days. You get home at 2, physically your’e exhausted, but the day is not even really started yet. Your head is still full of energy, ready for some off-duty entertainment, but the body just doesn’t want in on it.

Dancers finds a lot of more or less interesting ways to kill the time until next working day. Some watch ballet-variations on youTube till they fall asleep (psychos!). Some train whatever part of their body that’s still able to move (often the same YouTube-people). Recently, I found there’s a big group of dancers that prefer the intoxicating relaxation, lets say the herbal one..

Me, I keep it simple. I don’t have a TV, but I’ve probably watched more DVD’s than you.. I have built my share of model-ships (yeah, I know, I’m a geek), and I read a lot of books. Recently though, I’ve found something else to kill time: Poker. If your’e into that, you can find a demo of the eminent game “Governor of Poker” here. But be warned – it’s addictive.

What do you do to make time pass? Big blind is a whole lot of hours. Raise with your idea, and I promise you – I’m all in!

See you soon! Ta-ta
