Drumlin in The Nutcracker

Henrik: How do you feel about winning the Tights and Tiaras give away?

Drumlin: I was thrilled and stunned to win the giveaway, Could have knocked me over with a feather. Fortunately, no one showed up with a feather…

What is your connection to dance? Do you dance?
I do dance, I’m currently a trainee with First State Ballet Theatre in Wilmington Delaware under the direction of Mr. Pasha Kambalov.

Why do you read Tights and Tiaras?
As a dancer, I’m always looking for news ways to learn more about dance and stay connected with the dance world. As a male dancer, I’m also interested in the ways other male dancers see and interact with the dance world. Tights and Tiaras is a well done blog by a male dancer with a sense of humor, that appeals to me.

Have you seen the Black Swan movie?
Actually, I have not seen Black Swan, I wanted to, but when it came out, I was in the middle of a cross country move. A lot of things where up in the air and I didn’t manage to see it.

What do you think about ballet-themed movies? Good for ballet, or not at all? This is a tricky question, on the whole, I’m in favor of more attention for the ballet world. However, already when people find out I dance their first question is if I’m going to audition for So You Think You Can Dance. Since Black Swan came out, my friends and I have noticed a shift to, “Is your life just like it is in Black Swan? That must be very difficult…” Attention is great for the arts, understanding would be nice though.

Thanks to Drumlin for our little interview, and congratulations on winning the DVD! For the record, Drumlin was chosen completely randomly out of all the people that joined the competition.
